Hi Lisa,

You cannot promote affiliate websites on Wikipedia. This is against their policy.

If you want to build backlinks from authority sites, look for related, high PR websites with a really good following/traffic. Try to build backlinks by publishing and sharing good content.

From what I know all the Wikipedia links have the nofollow attribute so you won`t have any ranking advantage.
Why do you want to spam Wikipedia? Have you run out of places to spam?

Getting a link from reputed website like Wikipedia is definitely a tough task. Wikipedia provides a nofollow link, but wiki links are considered as high quality backlinks and they help you to rank your keywords in search engines. You can get a link only if you link a relevant site for that specific page.

I`m just curious. If these links are nofollowed. How are they helping your rankings?

Yes, I agree with you. No-follow link does not pass link juice from one site to another. I think, Wikipedia link only benefits to driving traffic instead of ranking a keyword.
