Hyperlink - Clickable links that takes you to a webpage.

Hoplink - Clickable link that takes you to a webpage AND tracks your affiliate sale.

A hyperlink is any clickable link between documents. So any text or image that you can click that leads you somewhere else is a hyperlink.

A hoplink is the affiliate link you use to lead people to a merchant site, through the Clickbank affiliate network. When you promote a product that is listed in Clickbank, you need to use a hoplink if you want to get credit for the sale. When you're viewing the merchant's information in Clickbank there's a tool that allows you to enter your Clickbank ID and generate a hoplink for that product.

A hoplink is a type of hyperlink.

Hope that clears things up :)

...just a thought, am I correct in assuming is it only possible to get a hoplink into an MSword doc in http://www.mydomain or www.mydomain (undisguised) format?

A hoplink doesn't look like that? I don't know what you mean.

If you can put a normal link into a document, then you can put a hoplink into a document. They're one and the same.

A lot of people don't insert their hoplink this way, though, because it looks unappealing to click on. In this case they often insert a link to their website (ie.
    http://www.yourdomain.com/productname/)
and then have this page redirect to the merchant site through a hoplink.

Is that what you were asking?

Err, not sure. However, I now see that I can insert a hyperlink or hoplink in MSWord and give it alternative text. Thing is, unlike a on a web page, as soon as I hover over it with my mouse, it flags up and shows as a hyper or hoplink, so in effect is not (fully) disguised. I'll investigate to see if there's a hide option but maybe it's the best I can get and should not worry too much about it?

What are you trying to hide? Your affiliate code on the link or from making it seem like a link? You want the customer to be able to click on it.

Yep, if you want people to actually click on it, make sure they know it's a link. If it's going to be in a word doc. then make sure it's still underlined and blue as most people still think of links this way.

Like Mark mentioned, you should make it nicer to click on. yourdomain.com/something is a pretty simple way to go.

I think I'm OK with where I am. What I was trying to say is that MSWord displays an editable "screen tip" box when I place my mouse over my hyperlink, which is auto colour ID'd & underlined anyway. I didn't really want this screen tip to show up, but I guess it's no big deal.
Thanks

Also remember that if you're not planning to turn this into a PDF, you're limiting your audience to people who have MS Word (or equivelent) installed on their computer. I'm not sure what your purpose for this document is, but just keep this in mind. If you're able to turn the Word document into a PDF instead, it'll be much easier to distribute.

To add to what Adrian said -

All Hoplinks are Hyperlinks but all hyperlinks are not hoplinks.
