I see that many of my competitors in the S.E.O field have over 100 words in there keyword bar including the long 2 long tails I want to rank for.
My thoughts have been always to have only 2-3 target keywords that I want to rank for.Is this correct or should I go for more to be a bit broader in search results(cover more keywords)
Thanks in advance for you thoughts.
I typically don't stress out on the number of the keywords but concentrate on marketing solutions to the people behind the keyword aka the
quality of the keyword.
"Hair on fire" Keywords that stress urgency and a state of "i need my problem fixed yesterday" is where the money is at and the best place to tap out.
Example:
You could find a keyword the rest of the herd is going for example "improve my website ranking" which gets 1000 global (just as an example).
And you could have another keyword "improve lost website ranking" with 500 global (once again, just an example).
Which one do you think would convert better?
Just some food for thought.
Keywords with higher traffic numbers don't necessarily have to be the best ones possible.
