Sitemap link in Wordpress

I set up my sitemap on wordpress and have followed everything through week 5. However, the link does not
show up in the sidebar. Did I miss something, or is this covered later?

 You haven't necessarily gone wrong.

The sitemap file generated by the Google XML Sitemaps plugin isn't a page for users to view. It is a special file that search engines look for so they know how to browse your site (they aren't as good at picking out links as humans are).

It is possible to see it in your browser if you just want to check that it is there.

Login to your admin area, then go to Settings > XML-Sitemap. Scroll down to "Location of your sitemap file" and you will see "Detected URL". You can copy and paste this into your browser, or just click the link.

 So the "sitemap" link I see in the sidebar of others' pages is manually made? As in wowblackbook.... A different type of sitemap?

yes this is the human-readable sitemap, which the site builder has created. do you use xsite pro or wordpress? xsite pro has an easy option to create a human-readable sitemap (like the one Marks got on his WOW blackbook site) but i know there are wordpress plugins that can do the same thing (i havent actually created that type of sitemap so i cant personally recommend one).

 I have found a plugin that you may like. It's on http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/rea ... e-sitemap/
I have not tried it personally, though, so I can't say how it is.
