Listed in the Yahoo Directory - Why is it so important?

Can somone out there tell me why it is so important to get listed in the yahoo directory? I know it is advised in one of the videos that i have watched. Why is it so important to spend $299.00????

 Yahoo has a huge PR and even the subpages of the directory can have very high PR also. Whether or not the SEs will see your site as an authority site due to your inclusion, I don't know. It would make sense, because spammy, crappy sites wouldn't spend $299 to get into the directory, but I don't know if they SEs pay any attention or not.

Good point Adrian. I've heard it can really help, but if you don't have the funds for it, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I am moving along just fine in the SE's without it right now.

 Yes, it really helps. I can't spate $299 for now, but you may want to submit (or hire someone) to all the free directories on infovilencer's list.

I started to submit to the alternative list of paid directories given by Mark. I try one or two every month.

Having a link in a directory like Goguides is worth as well.

 When I next want my site submitted to directories, I plan on outsourcing it completely. You can get people to work for you for $1 an hour, so it would work out pretty cheap.
