Is there a way to check if a page is no-follow ?

I did some backlink checking over the last few days and found that many of my links that I thought would be very good links for my rankings turned out to be no-follow.

Some of these links took alot of time to get and to find out that they were no-follow was upsetting.

Is there a tool or tool-bar that can tell me if a page is no-follow ahead of time so I don't waste time trying for the link?

 Here are some steps to find no-follow links

1. download "Quirk search status"
2. install it then
3. right click on blue icon in the quirk bar
4. choose highlight no follow links.

This process will show you all no follow links.

 Hello Alex

Thank you for your reply, but I am trying to find out if a page is no-follow before I get a link on it.

I am looking for a way to find out if a page is do-follow or not to help me decide if I want to try to get a link on it. I know that even a no-follow link can get some direct traffic but i'm working more for ranking links which need to be do-follow.

 You can check if a site is a do-follow or no-follow by visiting the website and get the source code of that website the search "rel=nofollow" or there is a browser extension that detects if that website is nofollow or do follow index or noindex.

 1. If you want to check nofollow or dofollow link on the page then go to on that page and press Ctrl+U and then find the nofollow.
2. press the Ctrl+U on the page and find the rel="nofollow" tag if you find this tag on page it means the link is nofollow.

 You can check it in their source code as well. other than this you can many tools by putting a search in google or any other search engine.

The Affilorama SEO toolbar helps you identify if the links on a page are no follow or no follow.

I wouldn't be too hung up on the no-follow/do follow links. Most sites that you would want a backlink on is more than likely no follow. Search engines don't look at that anyway, or rather, I don't think they look at that anymore. Search engines look at relevance between the site you have a backlink on and your site.

 No follow links are also shown by backlinkwatch.com. This website show nofollow links.
I believe nofollow links are also useful to bring traffic towards a site.
