Indexing A New Website

I was on a webinar recently, which was hosted by Mark, called "Website Promotion and Link-Getting Secrets".
The gent doing the webinar [can't recall his name] provide some great info including a stack of URL's to use to assist in indexing a new web site. Mark showed how to download a screen shot which I did.
For example:
http://www.statbrain.com/www.yourdomain.com
http://www.websiteoutlook.com/www.yourdomain.com
http://www.whoisya.com/www.yourdomain.com
Question
Can anyone tell me please what you have to do when you go to these sites. I have registered for some that allow registration but I am more confused about how they actually work to "Index" my new site if I don't have to do anything when I get there.

 Hi Peter,

You replace www.yourdomain.com with your actual domain name before you paste it into your browser's address bar and click go. When you do that a profile for your website is created on the website you went to, and it usually means that a backlink to your site is also created. Having profiles on those websites, aside from the backlinks, means that the SEs will discover your site faster

Yes - I have been doing exactly as you have suggested. I was confused how completing such a simple process could establish back links. I thought I had to do something else once I landed on these sites and that was confusing me.

Some did have the capacity to insert a profile so I left one where I could.

 i recommend that to get indexed you newly launched website just post it to Dig etc (social networking site)
do not use a "METHOD"
