Have you check your homepage's meta description? if you don't have one, put one. That's one of the first things someone would check if it wasn't showing in Google.

although Google does read the meta tag, if you use too heavy of a CTA, or they see your description as not relevant enough, they will pull random text from the page instead. crafting the description is more difficult than the article itself sometimes.
