Squidoo will apply “nofollow” markup to all outbound links

The Evil "nofollow" has arrived over at Squidoo. Does this mean it is now a dead source for anchortext backlinks?

Changing Link Status On Squidoo

It looks like they are headed in the same direction as Hubpages:

"Eventually we hope to start giving our best (and most trusted) lensmasters “follow” privileges on a case-by-case basis." -Bonnie Squidoo.com

I.E., Quality Content = Link Juice Restoration... maybe.

They hope to get more traffic to lenses and referral traffic for lens master's sites which is cool I guess, what do you think?

I don't think it is. If you're linking to a site here that is related to yours then that's still one backlink to your site. No link juice is passed along to your site, but search engines will recognize the relevance.

 Hi Andrew,

I agree with Cecille and even if the links are no follow, still Squidoo is a web 2.0 site and it's easily indexed by SEs. Plus, you can also get direct traffic from your Squidoo to your site if you have good content. :)

 With regards to links then you cannot post direct links in your lenses that refer to your site therefore?
One thing I am certain of is linking to your site in your bio.

If I am not mistaken, you can post your links in the Author box or in the Links/Sources section in Squidoo.

 The evil of link spam has made all those with high outbound link values do the same, else they might have themselves de-indexed pretty soon. Its becoming tougher and tougher day by day to get backlinks for yourself.

 ok i was going to make a squidoo page and just havent gotten around to it. That is pretty lame but i can understand why nofollows are being applied. If it really doesn't matter still if its a no follow or not then i'll still make one.

I agree. Even if Squidoo lens are no follow, still you have the benefit of getting direct visitors from this site PLUS Squidoo are easily indexed by search engines. These are the benefits of posting to Squidoo.
