SEO for Sub Domains

Hi fellow marketeers

whilst looking for potential markets I came across an affiliate whereby you get a subdomain of their main site. eg if the affiliate site is mysite.co.uk you get a yoursite.mysite.co.uk

I was reading about SEO for subdomains and got a bunch of differing opinons on how google would rank such sites. There was talk of them not doing so well and google being able to pick up on the fact that it was a duplicate of the main site. Is anyone able to shed any light on this?

I hope I'm making sense, I'm very new to all this

any tips greatly appreciated

 I would say to stay away from that... because you have no control over the way the main site is being marketed / used... much better to have your own domain :)
