 I think directory submission is no more very much helpful. I have tried many times but didn't get any good result.
You should try another way, blog commenting can be more helpful if you get from relevant sites.
Forum sites and questions&answers sites are also helpful for promoting you and your business.

 I think it's still helpful unless you submit your links into big and high quality directories such as Dmoz (but it was dead), and it's important that you need to submit your site to relevant directories in your market. IMO

 HI

Directory submission was a common SEO (search engine optimization) technique to get back-links for the submitted website. It might not be much effective in 2018 but it still works.
