 One good strategy will be to publish a good article on a trending topic related to your niche. Then select as many as possible articles, tweets, social media posts on the same subject.

Now in the comment on the articles or social media posts or in retweets, smartly share the link with justifying your point.

People will certain notice you and your views and the link. many of them will also share that link. It will need hard work but it will pay you with genuine backlinks.

 The main thing that should be remembered is that it is important to get quality links from the very beginning in order not to improve them later.
Your backlink profile should be diverse and contain links from forums, catalogues, social media, other blogs and niche articles.
Backlinks should be surrounded with text and it is bad when a link comes from a sidebar.
Don't build spammy links and those that come from irrelevant resources. If your niche is business, backlinks should come from from business websites too.
