 Google's New Meta Description Length is Now 320 Characters. Google's meta description snippets have always been a bit of an arcane art. Prior to a few weeks ago, the character limit for a meta description was 165 characters, more or less.

 Many news and blogs i have read recently about new meta description in 320 character. but practically its not live.

Let me finish confusion about 160 char and 320 character meta description.

160 Char: this length go between 160 to 168 char, and this will apply on those are corporate, agency, providing commercial business.

320 Char: this for information, news, education blog,.....content based Article & blog have this length of meta description.

 I think The meta description character's limit is 160 word. You can follow this.

 Meta descriptions can be any length, but Google generally truncates snippets ~300 characters.

 Looks like Google has reverted to the old 155 again for meta description as of 11/05/2018. They are really all over the place and not helping. We were getting 297 to display properly in .co.uk, 310 in .com but they really need to make up their minds as this costs a fortune in time to keep going back and re-doing all the time.

Google keeps on updating rules for Meta Tags. Earlier we could extend the description length upto 320 characters but recently you will observe that the meta description snippets' length is reduced to 160-160 chartacters in length including white spaces. Actually if you read good articles then you will come to know that the length of meta description is dynamic. The maximum limit is not confirmed by Google but real time observation shows that the meta description is truncated upto 160-170 characters in length.

 The meta description should be 160 to 170 character and a maximum of 200 characters.

 I would advise you to stick to 160 characters and leave some space towards the end. Likewise do the same to your Title Tag also. Go for 60-65 characters. If we leave space towards the end, the Title & Meta Description stands out amongst the crowd. I have done this and I truly benefit out of this. Instead of using the brand name in the title, suggest you include a secondary keyword.

 According to google latest trend, Moz observe that most of sites that have high google rank in search engine has meta description between 160 to 330 character.
