Domain extension matter?

Hello I have not been around for a while. I have not done SEO for years. I am thinking of giving it a go again.

I was motivated to try it again by this long tail keyword tool I stumbled accrossed. answerthepublic.com

ANyway what I would like to know is do .com .net and .org extensions have an SEO advantage over other extensions like .biz or .blog?

Anyone know?

Thanks

Hi JC,

We recommend that your domain name should be:

Be somewhat related to your topic. It doesn't necessarily need to include your keywords. If your topic was muscle building, a domain name like "promusclebuilding.com" would be great. You could also go with something like "getstrong.com" or "bulkup.com". They're easily related to muscle building, but don't necessarily explicitly mention "muscles".

Have a .com TLD. The domain registrars give you a choice of .com, .net, .org, and so on, but in general, .com is still the best. The exception is if you are specifically targeting a local market, in which case you might want to go after a .co.uk or a .com.au for example.

Not be too long. We recommend fewer than 20 characters, and fewer than 3 words. (eg, bestreviewsite.com is 3 words)

Be easy to remember. Short and catchy domain names are better than long, generic domain names stuffed with keywords. (eg, getstrong.com is better than howtobuildmusclesfaster.com)

Some useful tools to help you find a domain name include:
https://www.leandomainsearch.com/ -- a good tool for finding domain names that are available and contain one of your keywords.
https://www.bustaname.com/ -- lets you mix and match words to find available domain names.

We recommend going https://www.affilorama.com/domains to register your domain.

Yes, TLDs matter but also depends on situation, scenario, requirements and so many other factors.

To a certain degree, yes, it does matter. Country-specific domain extensions are always good for businesses that are targeting local customers – it raises the confidence of your website's visitors, especially when they come from the country of the TLD.

IT doesn't matter I would say from SEO point of view which extension you use, they are all the same anyway. But I can really tell you that .com is somewhat like standart, so your case should really be out of usual to use something other and it's probably not.

Many people suggest here to take dot com domains and they are really correct, somehow it's still most preferable thing anyway on so many levels I can't even talk, but they still need to take it far more often anyway. Let's talk more about that!

We recently created a .shop domain and it ranks better on some keywords than a .com domain.

It certainly depends on how much time is put into it.
