Does using services like bit.ly affect a website's SEO?

Guys you help me out. I just started my first affiliate website and recently i have been active on twitter to make a social impact of my site. I have a question? Though twitter links are nofollow but they still drive traffic to your website. Important point to discuss here is using services like bit.ly to shorten my links somehow affect negatively on my seo strategy?

 I agree with maryt. You can use any url shortener service. It doesn't harm your SEO.

 No, It won't hurt your SEO,but you will get less out of it than by linking directly.

May I know what you meant by "less of it" ? There is nothing wrong with a redirect link and like I have said, redirects do not affect your rankings IN ANY WAY. Just FYI.

 i make use of that url shortener everyday and it has not in any way affect my website SEO. It has even done more good works for me since i started using it
