Does niche matter?

Will it be negative for my site's ranking in Google's eyes if it receives a high authority backlink from a different niche site if mine is in travel niche?

 No it's fine. Google considers a backlink from an irrelevant niche, what's important is its authority.

 Having a niche is important because if you try to cater to everyone your overall marketing and message won't speak to anyone. Your niche can also be linked to who your ideal client is. So, it's important you have a targeted niche market and speak to a customer or client in a certain way which they can really relate to.

 And that's the key… you don't necessarily NEED a niche, but you absolutely DO need a business focus and a differentiator… ... A niche can give us those 2 things, but if you don't have a niche, then you do need to go find your differentiator and go get that business focus

 It won't help you in conversions/Leads or increasing business since the traffic your site is getting is from different niche and users with different interest.

 Yes niche matters, it's necessary to create backlinks under the same niche because if you want relevant traffic you need to create a backlink on your niche. But most companies make backlinks on irrelevant websites they can increase their traffic but they didn't get the relevant traffic which they want.

 I suppose that niche matters a lot. Everything actually depends on your niche. Your future success, the development of your marketing campaign. That's why niche should be the very fisrt thing in every activity, not only in marketing activity. So, I wish all people who once have decided to start their own business or maybe other activity, could understand that firstly they have to think about the wole idea of their business. Of course, there are some people who don't pay much attention to niche and just start working. Nevertheless, I consider such approach incorrect. Although, every human being is the owner of his/her life, and only he/she decides how to run business.
