Article directories....

Hi Guys

Is it just me or do heaps of the article directories allow the articles to be taken from the site and used wherever.

I'm all for sites taking my content as long as they take my links - but I don't think this would happen?? A lot of the directories do not allow HTML (Links) also

I am getting this right?? or just not submitting to the right directories

Thanks in advance

Actually, that is the whole prupose behind using directories. The direcories allow republishing of articles on their site with the condition that the republished articles include the links in the authors bio. I get very little direct traffic through directories, but several of my articles have been republished in ebooks, newsletters, and on a few websites.

Originally, they werent for spamming links like they are now. Some people go and ruin it for everyone.

Most people won't ever see this happen because of the crap they submit and call an article, but often, the stuff I post on directories is as good as or better than the content on my own site.

The TOS and Terms of Use of most directories say that if you are to use an article that the links must remain intact - unfortunately most marketers don't give a toss and will scrape (copy/paste) an article and put it straight on their site....some will even put it through a crappy spinner first, which is even more disheartening.

What can you do?

If they have a comments section you can leave a dirty comment - like 'great article, looks just like the one that I wrote on EZA...next time how about keeping my links intact"

About 20% of the time you will get a response and an apology.

The best advice is to just suck it up, take it as a compliment and move on.

Sweet thanks for the answers, yeah haven't been happy when my article is elsewhere without the links. Will have to tweak my strategy a bit

not really much you can do about it. I have articles that arent posted on directories doing the same thing, thats how these autoblog softwares work. they roam the net and seal other peoples content to post on crappy auto blogs usually without proper credit to the original author.

part of why I hate autoblogs.
you can drive yousrself crazy worrying about it and waste hours chasing down every one of the thousands of sites doing it, or just wait till google figures out how to blast them away once and for all.
