Newsletter vs Call to Action

I'm in the beginning stages of building my site. lots of content that will go up in the next several days.

at this point, i don't have any newsletters set up. I'm thinking that this makes more sense once i have a trickle of traffic. and my content doesn't have any CTAs set up (calls to action for product sales).

but i keep reading conflicting opinions. some recommend doing the newsletter right now in order to build the list ASAP. others recommend pushing the product on every single page (in the article) with photos and links above the fold.

what do you guys recommend?

If you don't have any newsletters yet, then you could set up the call to action.

Every website should have a call to action. This will urge your visitors to take immediate action. Simply place links like that on your articles especially above the fold and at the bottom of your articles.

Having a newsletter series will get you as many subscribers as early as possible and build relationship with your readers. Sending newsletters regularly will help build a relationship with your visitors and encourage them to keep coming back to your site. By doing so, you can get them to trust your website and would then be more likely to buy your products.

However, this is optional. If you feel that this will take you longer to accomplish, then you can skip this first and just continue adding quality content to your website.

cheers michelle,

i think for now, i'll just focus on content creation.....once everything is set up, i'll go through and add CTAs to everything.

I agree with you on this. A checklist will also help a lot. I suggest you create your own to-dos so you will have a basis of what to accomplish first.

With regards to your concern, I think it will be good to focus on your product and content first before you set-up your newsletter. So yes, a call to action should come first and when everything is set-up, you can then create a newsletter.

Hey budaspam-affilorama,

What content management software (CMS) are you using? It should have it's own "Newsletter Subscription" widget that you can add/download/plugin to the side of every page on your site -- giving you a simple, low-cost, call-to-action that drives e-mail subscribers every time you have a visitor.

Once you have an e-mail list you can use it to not only drive more traffic to your website, but you can use it to send affiliate product promotions (that allow email traffic) as well. Because of this I would suggest getting something like this on your site ASAP because you definitely want to start building your list as quickly as possible.

Hopefully this helps. Let me know if you (or anyone else) has any further questions, comments, or concerns.
