Need help because of the Panda update.

Hello everybody.

I am looking for some help regarding the fact that ever since the panda update Google takes into account the author name of the articles. I am just at the point where I have to decide between writing the articles or hiring some professionals via iwriter. I would like to write them myself but the issue lies with me being the author...I am only 18 and am new to affiliate marketing. I don't have any credibility at all. Will Google slap me for this? any advice is greatly appreciated.

Kind regards -Dave

I don't see how Google who even know how to rank pages based on an authors name. Most articles don't even have an author or pen name attached to it.

You will be fine writing your own articles as long as the content, grammar, and spelling is good.

Hi Dave,

Yes since the update, Google now has the author search feature and thus, they prefer that you link your name to your content posts. This makes it easier for users to search for authors.

But like Swarlley said, this is not the only basis of Google when ranking pages on their search results. Stick to creating good and unique content, optimize your pages, and get good backlinks.

I hope that helps!

Hi Dave,

As long as you own the rights to use the content and there is nothing in your agreement with the writer that you must use their name, then you can publish it under your name. It is a great idea to use your name with the google authorship and start growing your brand and it may eventually help you show up in more searches.

I do want to point out for anyone reading that you would want to set up your google authorship and use the correct markup to get the full benefit. However, it pays to think about how you want to brand yourself and your site first as that is essentially what you are doing and then making it easy for google to identify the brand.

Good points Robi! :)

A lot of affiliate marketeers these days outsource either the SEO/linkbuilding or the writing for their sites, and there are a lot of individuals and companies as well who are more than eager to do these tasks for a fee. You can definitely outsource the article writing and publish those under your name. That's part of the deal when hiring a writer. They write for you on the topic of your choice, you pay for the service and you publish it on your site under your name. There are some unscrupulous writers out there who will submit re-hashed articles to you so always make sure you check out the article for any duplicates before accepting it.

I recommend though that you try your hand at writing first before outsourcing. This is more cost effective and you learn a lot from the experience: you learn how to research and to write so you will have an idea of how the writing process works. This makes it easier for you to give instructions when outsourcing the task in the future. Besides, you might actually discover you have a talent for writing, a skill which is in demand these days.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

"Hello everyone!

For my own perspective, unique and great quality content is much more important for Google. Even though its written by yourself or even hiring a professional writer as long as both of you agreed to use your name as the one who wrote it. In that way, Google will not penalized your website due from low quality content because that's what Google Panda Update aims for.

As a matter of fact, since the Panda update was introduced, my website was been hit badly. Indeed, I've executed hundreds of changes on my website such as modifying the content into a more unique but high quality content by presenting it in a more altered way. Also, I've done a lot of adjustment on the design and its navigation modification as I've followed the directions inside the Panda Breakthrough program. Since then, my website boost its traffic and ranking. "
