What is the Best Free Website Builder?

I am searching for free website builders. Which is the best one at the moment? I know you will get one if you buy a hosting plan, but I want to make use of a free website builder without subscribing for a hosting plan. Is there one?

I think the best free website builder is blogger or wordpress. These are blogging platforms but are equally great for creating a simple updatable website.

And if you need to design website on your desktop and then upload them to server later, the best is Adobe Dreamweaver and Adobe Muse (I think muse is better for simple HTML websites)

From my experience and what appears to be the easiest would be Weebly or WordPress. My recommendation would be to go with WordPress as it give you a lot of flexibility with all the free plugins. Also, the search engines love WordPress making it easier to get ranked.

The services mentioned are great, and also an ideal thing to do would be to learn the basics of HTML/CSS, (I'm currently formally learning HTML/CSS/Javascript/PHP, surprisingly not that hard), as online business owners, our goal should be to outsource as much as possible and 'replace' ourselves, but knowing at least a little bit about every aspect of our business can make outsourcing/hiring a lot easier.

You also have to think about controlling your assets, you do not want to be 100% beholden to outside entities.

So you should place your best content and best ideas on platforms & domains that you control. My writing site's backend is custom built with HTML/CSS/Javascript/PHP, so we aren't beholden to anyone except a handful of crazy ninja coders, but I'm working on that hopefully lol, and our frontend is WordPress with a $47 theme, that even I can edit with just the basic knowledge of HTML/CSS. (my site is in my sig.)

Think of your sites as VRE (virtual real estate), do you want to rent or do you want to own? There are times when you should rent, but most of the time the end goal should be to own and control all your assets.

Hope this makes sense, :-p

Weebly is one of the easiest to use. It's not as powerful as Wordpress but it has a lot of great themes and it's easy to get a great looking website up in minutes.

Wordpress is awesome, but it still has a learning curve for some people.

If all you need is a couple of pages of content and maybe some blog posts, Weebly has everything you need and it's free.

If you need a lot of advanced functionality, then you really need to use Wordpress. You can get affordable hosting from HostGator. I've been using them for years.
