Hi Dave,

I would suggest that you start with the end result in mind FIRST. What are you trying to achieve with your website?
Do you want to showcase your hobby?
Make money with it?
Be a pro in web design?
After that you can then decide to either build an ie html website or use, as suggest above, a system like wordpress.
This first step is crucial, because building a professional looking html website customers and searchengines alike would love requires, in my humble opinion, years to master if you are not a coding wizard with sharp eyes for design aspects.
Or on the other hand, people like me, and I guess most members here, use wordpress to build and customize websites. Our goal is mostly to make money online by providing unique, high value SEO optimized content. This alone usually requires a lot of ressources like time and money since we must also promote these wordpress-based sites using SEO,PPC and so on.

I hope this information is helpful.

there are 2 things you can do, you can download seamonky which is a browser from the company who had netscape they have a free html editor and you can make some good but basic web sites with it, there is also a good company called Serif who has several versions of web editors one is serif web plus 10 which is much better then seamonkey and is fairly cheep then they have web plus x4 which is about 100 dollars and can do just about everything that dreamweaver can do. They are all fairly easy to learn so there are some other options.

Don't go Dreamweaver. Seriously. It'll take you months to study it well enough, and possibly close to a year to compete with the professional wordpress themes that are out.

Study wordpress, get a theme from http://themeforest.net, and have your site up in a week.

Hi Greg,

Thanks for sharing that post! :)
I personally prefer Wordpress over other other blogging platforms. You can choose from the free themes and customize it however you want the site to appear. It's free and open source so there are plenty of plugins you can use that can help you with SEO.

Dreamweaver is a great web design application but it can be expensive, and it will take time for you to learn it. Especially if you do not have any HTML knowledge. If you want a web design software then try XSitePro or Artisteer.

Wish I could use the Wordpress.org. Was able to download Wordpress.com, but it doesn't allow me to install themes, like Affilotheme. Had problems with php extensions, won't work with the windows unless I find another program that will read, as none of my browsers can work with it. Tried going in with wordpad to change the text, but still didn't work.

You should be able to go in and upload a theme to Wordpress through FTP.
You might want to check if you have Wordpress installed correctly. Wordpress also offers great support through their Help page

You sure you don't have that backwards, Bellmother1? ".com" is the free hosted and the ".org" is the code.

As to the theme, you should be able to install a theme if you are using the ".org" code, which is code you install on a site where you pay for hosting.

If you are trying to use the ".com" with the "free" hosting, consider paying for the hosting The "free" site isn't intended for "commercial" purposes and if they find you are using it for that, they could shut you down. You have more freedom with the paid hosting. It only costs $10/year for domain registration and at Hostgator, for $10/month, you can get hosting where you can run multiple sites from. Should be enough to get you started.

Can you try to download Affilotheme 3 again and overwrite the existing files?

If you continue to have problems, can you give us temporary access to your WP admin area so that we could install this for you? If so, please send us your site URL and the temporary login details.

You may create a temporary administrator user in the 'Users' menu of your WordPress site. From your dashboard, go to users on the left hand side. From there you can add a new user, and set the status to admin. then once the staff is done, you can delete the user or change the password.

Please PM me or send the details through our contact form at out support page.

All the best!

Hi Jono,

Do you have Winzip or a similar application installed in your computer? Affilotheme comes in a zipped file and you would need to upload this as a zipped file too so you need that application. If you do not have Winzip or unable to install in, you can try 7zip.

Hope that helps. If you are still unable to download and install the theme, then please send us an email through support page with your login information.

Have a good day!

Our technical staff said Premium hosting users may sometimes encounter issues uploading a theme as large as the Affilotheme which is about 4.8MB.

What you need to do is to upload the extracted theme files into the public_html/wp-content/themes folder. We have already uploaded this for you. You should now be able to see the Affilotheme in the themes list.

All the best!

Hello,

I'm trying to redesign 2 review sites and one is for reviewing deal-of-the-day sites and another is for reviewing businesses in Australia. I need help on what homepage layouts and features I should include or consider in redesigning the homepages and the overall functionality it should have to suffice their purpose of being review sites. Any recommendation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi selfreliantguy,

What platform are you using? If you are using Blogger or Wordpress, you can chose from any of the free templates they have. If none there fit your style or theme, then you can buy "Premium" themes. I prefer magazine-style templates/layouts for review sites, but again, this all depends on how you want to present your site and content.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

Before starting your website you need to first take into account what do you want to achieve with your website and for what purpose are you creating and maintaining the website. After this you need to create a blue print of your website and start working on it. You should include all the necessary information, make the website attractive and keep on updating the website so that it attracts more viewers.

I am so impressed with the Affilotheme. It is the perfect theme to begin building a powerful and very professional looking web sites that search engines love. The header creator is amazing and theses sites do not look cookie cutter at all.

This is not just for affiliate marketers. I am using it to update my DJ service and Photo Booth rental web sites as well.

Awesome product Mark and Team!

Thank you!
