Question on subdomains or folders to create a different nich

I am setting up a horse site with diverse niche areas like:

horses for sale
horse tack
horse breeds
horse care
horse property
barns
cowboy boots

to name a few, now they are quite wide so I want to separate them without giving each a separate domain, do I just use separate folders or do I use subdomains, or keep all files in the root directory?

Thanks I was thinking I'd be able to link between that folders someday without a penalty that way

Here's some interesting observation,

about.com link to about.com/education/ and then link to japanese.about.com

This model works(how many time you see about.com in the top 10 google! :shock: )..

I will be using this linking type for my new site :)

I see you made use of folders at your wakeboard site.
I like how you are included boats to pull the wakeboards, maybe I will expand to horse trailers and trucks to pull them :D
