How To Give Users Access To A Large File

Hi guys,

im currently in the karaoke niche. I want to give away free karaoke videos (just as some of you give away free ebooks) in return for them to signup to my email list.

Problem is, the file is large around 270MB. Where can i upload it so that when my visitors do subscribe they are able to get a download link. Im hosting on Godaddy and they allow on 25MB. And im not on wordpress so thats not an option too. How about dropbox? Any suggestion?

Thanks in advance..

Hi Lawrence,

I'm glad to hear the issue has been resolved. Dropbox is a good idea. You can email the direct link of the file to users who sign up on your list with instructions on how they can download it.

So far this is the best option with a file as large as that. You might want to consider optimizing the file, or packaging the file to reduce the file size.

Hope that helps. Happy Holidays!

All the best,

We do not normally recommend free services, especially if Dropbox takes down your video or if they deem it to use too much traffic.

This is their literal policy on it "Bandwidth limits. We automatically ban your shared and Public folder links when they're responsible for an uncommonly large amount of traffic"

If you are getting lots of downloads we recommend getting a VPS or Dedicated Server with high bandwidth limits to guarantee the speed and availability of the downloads.

I would just upload it to YouTube and list it as an "unlisted" video.

Then embed it on a secret page on your website that people can only get to if they opt-in.

I find Amazon S3 a great option for large files. Bandwidth is super-cheap and you only pay for what you use.
