Best way is to use Captcha Code. i.e. a string of text from an image that the user has to enter before it posts anything to the forum.

Yeah, I get anything up to 20 SPAM posts a day on my Phpbb forum. It take a while to delete them every day, especially if i miss a few days, really sucks!
