Custom CMS vs. Existing CMS: Which Is Better for Unique Need

I’m exploring options for a client who has very specific content needs. They require a platform that can be highly customized to fit their workflow, but I’m not sure if building a custom CMS or adapting an existing one would be the better option.

I’ve seen that web development companies often prefer building a custom CMS when clients have specialized needs because it provides more control and long-term flexibility. But I’m still not sure whether going custom is the best approach for a project like this.

Has anyone faced this dilemma before? What’s worked for you, and what should we consider when deciding between the two options?
