Creating pages to link with Footer headings in WordPress

Hi there, I am new to building sites in WordPress but thought I'd like to give it a try for a new learning experience!! I have NOT used the AffiloBluePrint Theme, rather a different theme. What I would like to know is how do I create pages that relate to the footer links eg: Contact us, Privacy Statement, Terms of Use etc and then actually make them link to those headings?? Does anyone know if there is a plugin to make this easier? Appreciate any reply! Cheers, Pip.

well, to create the pages, just go to the pages tab and make a page on that topic.

you actually have to write them yourself, there is no way around that. you may find a privacy statement online, but contact us, you should write a short article about your company or website, and use Contact form 7 plugin to add the form.

tos page, you have to write yourself,

linking them together, if the links are already there, you need to refer to the theme options on how to set them up. every theme works differently.

Wp is easy. the problem here is we are not trained on every one of the thousands of themes. If you were using the AB theme we could help you, but we dont know all of them.

not all themes have an options page. you will need to contact the theme developer. there should be a link to them on the themes page.

You'll need to edit the Footer (footer.php) using Wordpress' theme editor if your current theme does not support it. If you have AB Theme installed, you can easily add links to your TOS and disclaimer pages in the theme options page.

Thanks, I have been able to find what looks like the code for the footer under Edit Theme Functions, I can see how I could change what the Footer titles could be but I can't see how to send it to a different page.....where do I create the links for the pages I want those titles to go to?

The exact location in the footer.php depends on the theme that you're using. Here's an example based on WordPress 3.0's default theme:

With footer.php loaded in WP editor, look for the code:

Within this DIV tag is is a line of code that displays the "Powered by" text in the footer.

There might be no 'powered by' text in some other themes but the structure should be the same. Right next to the code above, add the following code that displays a link to your disclaimer/TOS page:

This code will add a link to the page

Thank you so much for your help! I have found the piece of code you are talking about, however the tabs I am wanting to create links for aren't that low (ie they sit a wee bit higher on the page - so they musn't be in the footer part, but I've looked in all the other editable "parts" and I can't seem to find them!!! This is the theme I am using....(you may know it by some small chance - guitar1 1.0 by BBrowne. I appreciate your help, but I'm really ready to throw the whole thing away and start over in XSitePro....it seemed SO much easier than this!! Kind Regards, Pip.

Hello....just wanting to know if you change themes in Wordpress, does it affect anything externally? I was thinking of changing my theme to the AffiloBluePrint theme so I can have more control over it, I just wanted to check that it won't affect any of the backlinks I've built?

the theme has nothing to do with your backlinks. the only thing that it may affect is that if you have comments, the AB theme does not utilize the comment features of wp.
