Aweber Pop-ups Question

I can't find much info on Aweber for editing "pop-ups" , in particular, when I click "get html", I don't know which of the two html options would be better for a pop-up, and then, where to copy/paste it into my Dreamweaver.

Both Mark's video (#2 or 3a I think) - and the aweber help notes (P10 -11) only give "in-line" examples for visitor name & email.

Don't you have to use the javascript when doing some sort of pop up?

You can edit the look of the thing when you create the form. It's not the easiest to use, but have a play around and you'll get it to work.

If you have any more problems with it you can talk to the live online help on aweber, which I do quite a lot :? , they're really helpful and they know what they are talking about. Or ask on here again, I'm sure someone will be able to help you out.

Thanks. I spoke to the online help - they didn't know(!) & suggested I contact my web designer - that's me...! I will try them again and try and get hold of another person.

What's the problem? If it's a popup, just put the code anywhere.

If you want to edit it and need to use the javascript one, just edit it from within awebers form edit thingo.

Like Sean said, the java can go anywhere on the site. You can edit what the form looks like in the create a web form option in aweber.

Think I'm making some progress. OK, I'm using the "recommended" (shorter) text and am getting a pop-up now - but only when I press ctrl key (in spite of my blocker being switched OFF...)

However... why does the copied/pasted html code show up on the web page (F12 button) and consequently on the uploaded web page?

I've tried the chat line but first there was one person in the queue before me, then typically, it closed and I was not given the option of waiting...!

Hi. Getting closer; yes, I split the screen and did that. It's OK now. Now what I really need to do is get rid of the reference to Aweber and my site in the pop-up's title bar (i.e. its upper "Explorer" border). I omitted any descriptive labels in part one of the create form process.

I need to speak to my pc help to sort out the blocker thingy, as it's fine with pop-ups from other sites.

Thanks for the continued help...

That's just one of the things you can edit from within aweber if you're using the javascript one. Go back and edit it and you should see where it is.

I'm up and running now.

A final thing... in each newsletter, would you advise having a link back to my site - or to link directly to the affiliate product I'm promoting? If the latter, as far as I can see, the newsletter needs to be in html format, so that I can use my Clickbank ID and then "rename" the link in the html. Naturally this bumps up the spam rating a digit or two; is this normal & OK? (spam checker says fine since I'm well under "5"). In plain text all the spam ratings were nil (no "live" link)
Thanks

Hi icj1,

The best way to incorporate affiliate links into your newsletters is to set up a redirect on your site, (example.com/recommends/productx/) and then include a link to that in your newsletter. That way you can get away with using plain text emails, since addresses that are written like example.com/recommends/productx/ should automatically be turned into hyperlinks, (even though the email is plain text).

That's what we do :)
