Adding Backlinks to your other pages,necesarry?

Hi Im adding a few new pages to my site and I `ve heard that you have to add backlinks also to those pages. I have already added a link to the main page on the bottom of each.....is it really necessary or will search engines pick them up with time?

 If you have a sitemap on your site then the other pages will get crawled as well. I use the Wordpress plugin 'Google XML Sitemaps'. Just activate it and forget it. You should also submit your site to Webmaster tools and submit your sitemap to them so that you will get crawled sooner.

Backlink refer to links to your site that come from other websites. Linking from one of your pages to another of your pages isn't considered a backlink.

You do want backlinks from other websites pointing to your homepage and your inner pages.

Inbound links can also help your site with SEO. Put some links to related articles within your website at the end of your posts. Visitors will see this and may read other content on your site. This improves how long people stay on your website. You can bet that Google will notice too.

Outbound links to related high ranking sites can also help yours appear as an authority site.

 Yeah I heard that too, the the more time people stay on your site the better and I think it also raises your pagerank.

 Hi Myart787,

Yes, you have to do on-page SEO. You may need to link to different pages of your site also (and not just the homepage).

Everyone is on Wordpress simply because it has lots of free, easy to install SEO plugins to use. :)

 Yes adding backlinks are really important for search engine indexing and it gives page rank to a website based on number of backlinks and website traffic and quality content.

 I try and get as many links to all my pages as I can because my sites don't have just one subject and chances are if someone reads on of my sites pages they will want to read others. So the more links to internal pages the better off I am. Also I do not use wordpress I use a web editing program called serif, I like it a lot it works great and is pretty easy to use.
