Why can't I just add in ranking keywords to my content?

Simply adding a bunch of ranking keywords to your content is considered keyword stuffing, and Google will likely recognize and penalize those who engage in this black hat practice. When sites simply add ranking keywords to their content, they’re not focusing on creating meaningful, quality content, which is what Google prioritizes above all else when it comes to ranking. Instead, keywords should be incorporated naturally and where appropriate.

You add keywords as deemed necessary. Gone are the days for keyword stuffing. This strategy no longer works and can also lead to your website being flagged.

Use the ranking keywords in your content in such a way that they look natural and that sentence must be a meaningful.
Use ranking keywords in content, title, tags, description and in alt attributes as well.
This will create a SEO friendly content. And obviously that is most important and beneficial thing in Search Engine Optimization.

Keyword stuffing is not necessary now. Write a great 1000 - 1500 word article including all the relevant information, Q&A and infographics in that. You don't have to put keywords everywhere just put it where it is really required. Try to create content which will be worth the reading for your users.
