ROI (Return on Investment), a performance measure used by investors, calculates “the rate of revenues received for every dollar invested in an item or activity.”

The SROI is similar to ROI but shows the double bottom line: the financial impact AND the social impact of your nonprofit's work.

Just calculate how much have you spend on that activity with time and money and what you got in result ? For that you can put on that links on social places some tracking codes with goals for them to be completed. So something like that really. It's simple in reality.

Social return on investment (SROI) is a technique for measuring values which aren't traditionally represented in financial statements, including social, environmental and economic elements. They can identify just how effectively a firm uses its funds and other tools to create value for the community.

ROI is Return On Investment which means the percentage we get on every penny we invested in a product. Social ROI is to measure the efficiency of a social media marketing campaign.

In short, it puts environmental and social worth back into our cost-benefit equations. According to Social Value International, To give a very simplistic example: SROI Ratio assigns a monetary value to inputs and results, using this assignation to calculate a ratio.

You should know the company’s goals and objectives before starting to track and measure their social ROI. There are various ways in which it could be measured:

-Customer Acquisition
-Reach
-Traffic
-Lead Generation
-Revenue
-clicks

These are some factors you can use to measure social ROI. After establishing what is the marketing goal of the company, you shall then assign financial values to each goal.
