Facebook Traffic

I wanted to know how you guys get traffic from facebook to you website, or the best method?

I have a fan page for my biggest website its in the weight loss, fitness niche.

when i started the fan page about a year ago i seached facebook for things to like weight loss, fitness, health magazines and things of that matter. some have over 300,000 fans per page and thats how i have picked up (likes, friends)

When ever i find useful article or release a new article on the site i post it on face book with a short discription and a link to the content.. i post on my sites page and somtimes post on walls of the pages that i have liked.

anyway i get a lot of like for the article but not a lot of click thoughs its like they have just read the title of the article and clicked like.

it seems like the possability for tons of targeted traffic is there but with out clicks it feels like wasted time posting updates on facebook.

im in the process of recovering from panda and my traffic went down from 3 to 1 digits (day) so traffic is somthing i really need right now.

any thoughts about facebook traffic? or how to get clicks?

It's not a complete waste to if you do not get a lot of clickthroughs, if anything, those likes increase relevance of your article in Google, so it helps increase rank. Also, each time someone "likes" your article/link, it gets displayed on that person's Facebook wall. This helps promote your link/article because then, other people in that person's Friend list get to see that link.

Since a lot of people will see your article, you need to make sure that it is engaging and informative. Your description should be eye-catching, something that will pique the user's interest and propel them to click the link. Say you have an article about a new workout routine that targets abs, you can put in "Get those abs beach-ready! 30minute workout to get fit and fab this summer: <link to article>"

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

Hi,

Getting traffic in several social media networks is sometimes questionable. Yes there is good traffic within Facebook or Twitter but traffic remains "within" these sites alone. I have read one article about this that social media sites is not really good for getting traffic.

Although these sites are still useful as what Cecille said. You can use Facebook, Twitter, etc to increase page rank because a lot of search engines love these sites, especially Google.

I suggest, if you really want to get traffic back to your site, you need to join related forums, answer sites, and do guest postings. You can have a higher chance of getting real traffic by doing these things.

Good luck!

Facebook is not the first social network but it is the most popular one. There have been many other social networks before Facebook and while some of them were popular at some point in time, none could reach the popularity of Facebook. In addition to keeping in touch with your friends, Facebook can be (and is) used for business. You can use it to promote your products and services, to acquire new clients, or to get traffic to your site.

If you want to improve CTR on your articles, I'd suggest using "open loops." This is a concept that creates an unanswered question in a person's mind that they won't get resolution on until they click the link.

Examples might be:

"3 Foods to Help Lose Weight (One May Shock You)"
"Don't Grill Meat Unless You Do This..."
"Isn't It Embarrassing When..."

I suggest you try this out and you can probably see your CTR improve a lot!

Hi feelfreedom,

Yes, FB ads work similar to Google's AdSense so you can get targeted traffic from FB ads to your site.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

Add Iframes with a good title and image. You can send the traffic to your landing pages from there. Although, not to long ago I was in there and was having trouble with this exact same thing. Its how I monetized the traffic plus the name of your iframes pages can get listed pretty easily within google

Add lots of youtube videos to your content and post!

there are lots of great tips here, but i also want to add, the reason most marketers fail to get clicks directly from social media is because they put more emphasis on the marketing and less on the social. if you engage your fans, chat with them, and build trust, not just sharing blog posts, you will get a better response. I do a split, 20% of my posts on Fb are my articles, about 60% are quotes relevant to the niche, information and often full articles or ideas of articles that I have come up with but want some feedback before diving in full on.

give your fans a reason to follow you. give them some FB exclusives (stuff you don't share anywhere else, making it valuable to be a follower of your page)

also the other 20% of your posts should be sharing other people's content. relevant blogs, news stories related to your niche, anything breaking news can have a huge impact on your authority.

Its all about the relationship you have with the end user. don't look at social media as a marketing opportunity. look at it as a place to meet like minded people with similar interests, and socialize.

many of the people following my fan pages early on are other bloggers. when they see me sharing their blogs, they are more likely to check out mine and share it with their fans if they like the content.

Once people come to your page the first action is to get them to like your page first, then through I frames and static html you can direct people to your landing pages and opt in forms. You can direct link to offers as well if you want but I suggest building a list.

Also its good to visit other related pages and interact and show that you are a professional. There is value you can bring to the table. The key here is to comment as your page and not as your self or profile.

Biggest thing to understand is it all takes testing and optimizing for best results

I never had much luck with facebook. I use facebook but only to keep in contact with family and friends. I opted to get a google+ community instead. I think that is better for my niche.
