Email Marketing Question

Just watched your Email Marketing Video. Excellent! Not too long, concise and informative.

I make 98% of my income from email marketing, but need to get current. What I mean is I've been sending out text emails for all 11 years I've been online.

Need to find an affordable designer to put together a simple, branded email template.

Question

In your video you mention "newsletter". I don't send out a newsletter, I send out tips to help my subscribers, but here's my "6 million" dollar question.

Number One: In the very first email after they sign up from a promised tip, do you have a call to action in that first email to an applicable product related to their issue?

Number Two: Do you have the tip right in the email or have them go to a landing page?

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Hi Mike,

Newsletter is what we refer to emails you send to your subscriber that provides them with information regarding your topic/niche.

Number One: In the very first email after they sign up from a promised tip, do you have a call to action in that first email to an applicable product related to their issue?

Yes, but make sure that it is a soft sell. Wait until the 7th email to do a hard sell.

Number Two: Do you have the tip right in the email or have them go to a landing page?

This is up to you. Some of our newsletters take our members/subscribers to a page where we have the information up. Some contain the information right on the email itself.

Plain text emails are still the most deliverable. If you do get something designed, keep it very simple and light... like a logo at the top, footer at the bottom.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Any designers in here ;)

We have a couple of web designers here. You can head on to Affilorama Services section if you are thinking to hire one. But most autoresponders feature email templates you can use, like Aweber.

Have a good day!

You should also make sure that your lines are about 50 – 60 characters wide. That’s quite narrow! It’s because people tend to stick around and keep reading your newsletter when it’s not such an effort for them to do so. And having shorter lines makes it much easier to read.

Similarly, you should have lots of shorter paragraphs. It makes it a lot easier for someone to digest and keep reading. If all they saw when they opened your email was a giant screen of text with no white gaps, they would think “man, that looks like hard work” and they would probably not read it!

All the best! :)

Hi Mike,

I guess another thing to be aware about when it comes to your newsletters is to increase brand awareness. This should be one of your goals when setting up your newsletter. While you may have good graphics, you should also be able to produce quality content at the same time increase communication between you and your audience.

One of the common mistake when it comes to newsletters is that a lot of individuals neglect what their readers have to say. Again, the goal is to increase brand awareness, thus, you should also include an avenue for your readers to leave their feedback as much as possible. Feedback from your subscribers will also let you determine important things that will help your business improve more.

Good luck!

The network you're running with should have creative available for you if the offer is available for email. Unless you want something custom, in which case you probably need to get it approved by the advertiser.
