Anyone tried a viral ebook strategy?

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone has tried the Tom Hua style viral
ebook strategy (this guy is interviewed by Mark Ling
in the videos section of affilorama).

As far as I can see the idea is to write a decent but
fairly short ebook (Tom Hua did this with an ebook
on working with clickbank).

Add relevant affiliant links (e.g. say the ebook is about
building websites you could add a link to a hosting company
you're an affiliate for and another affiliate link for google
adsense etc etc) and then give the book away for FREE.

You make money through the affiliate links only.

I just wonder if this is still profitable as there seem to be
so many free ebooks knocking about?

Your thoughts and experience appreciated.

 If you can get the book out there to enough people and give them a reason for passing it on, then it will work.

I still get sales coming in from all over the place from a book I released last year.

Hi Juk and welcome to the board!

You're right, there is a lot of junk free books out there and people are getting more hesitant to give out their email for a so-so free ebook. The key would be to create a really quality product. Something that would be considered a good investment even if it had a price tag.

It' something I've had on my "to-do" list for quite awhile as it is another proven system... just not enough time in the day :(

 hey Promo, my little ebook probably won't make me rich, but I enjoyed the process of creating it and I learnt a fair bit too. I definitely recommend doing it, but you're right when you say it's gotta be quality. There are a lot of dodgy little books out there.

I've had some graphics designed recently and they make the book look so much more professional. I recommend spending $50 to get some done, or if you can do it yourself, even better.
