What is Google Analytics?

Two words are often heard these days when it comes to SEO discussion. They are Google Analytics and Panda Update. What is Google Analytics? What does it mean? Please throw some light on the topic.

Google analyics and Panda update is not really current news although still, these are important to consider when it comes to managing and promoting your website/online business.

Google analytics is a tool (by Google) used to track web traffic. Here you can view important details such as user location, IP address, source of traffic and so on that are all important to weighing your SEO campaign.

I hope that helps.

Google Analytics is one of the excellent services offered by Google to gain insightful analysis about the website traffic. It provides statistical analysis about the website traffic, traffic resources and measures your online conversion and sales.

Now, every website has installed the free version of Google Analytics in their website to get detailed report of your web traffic.

This Analytic tool provides your cuurent visit, yesterday visits, weekly and monthly visit and also you can compare the report of your website visits in a different time frame.

You can carry out content analysis which provides data about which webpages are more visited. It is also useful for social analytics and mobile analytics.

You can do conversion analysis and increase your selling through website.

Advertising analytics features help to measure how well your social, mobile, search and display ads are working.

Google analytics is a great place to get stats on traffic to your website, You will see how many people come to your site, what keywords they used, the page they landed on first and where they went on your site. There are at least 50 things that google tracks for you but the only problem with Google analytics it there is no place that teaches you how to use the information they give you to either make your sit better or sell more products. A simple example is that it is nice to see that someone from Florida visited my site but it doesn't really mater because I can't really tailor my homepage or any other pages to people from Florida it is nice to know but unless I have a business in Florida the information is useless to me since I sell everywhere. Another thing you get to see is visitor flow, where they show you what page someone landed on and which pages they visited before they left, again nice to know but if you are selling 20 different items and they looked at 5 of them and left without buying then again what good does it do to see where they went.

Exactly. In addition, it also helps us analyze the traffic flow- which pages gain more traffic which ones don't, which sources bring you traffic, the countries your visitors are from, etc.

All these info help you improve your website in terms of content, layout, navigation, and so on.
