It does help if it's a niche that you're passionate about. But, if you can't think of anything that you're passionate about, try a niche that you would like to learn more about. And as you research and learn more about the topic you will figure out what to write about.

If you want to promote digital products you can get some ideas by browsing the products on Clickbank. If you want to promote physical products you can get some ideas by browse through products on Amazon.

Is there anything you've purchased in the past that you absolutely loved and was well worth the money? A previous happy purchase might be worth promoting.

Just make sure that the niche you pick has profitable products to promote. Clickbank and Amazon both give indicators of a products potential.

You really need to know at least a bit about the topic.

It can be a good idea to go around the forums and look for questions people ask, then go and find answers. This way you're learning as you go. Keep this list of questions too, as they could be potential articles for your site.

Hi Ateesh,

Picking a niche is difficult and confusing because you are thinking of which niche you're both interested in and can make money from. The weight loss niche is a huge, evergreen niche and most affiliates have found success in this niche, but not all and it boils down to doing something you like.

I suggest you go after what you're truly interested in or knowledgeable about. Most inbound marketing these days are done in blog, forums and social media sites and by sharing the knowledge you have, so you need to know enough about your niche to have an opinion on topics that concern it. This would be difficult if you are not sincerely interested in your niche.

We've published several Niche of the Week posts in the Affilorama Blog. Maybe these posts can give you some inspiration.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

Test prep is definitely a profitable niche. I don't know any affiliate programs off the top of my head, but I know that there are people paying money for study guides, tutors, and cram schools for those tests.

If you are not comfortable talking about a certain niche, such as weightloss, you could hire an assistant to do that for you. Most times, you can find virtual assistants online at gig sites or even via Craigslist or other classified ad sites. This person should be very well versed in the niche that you want to target and be able to talk with others easily.

The most important aspect though won't just be your forum marketing efforts, but having a really good affiliate site waiting for those who decide to click through on your signature line.

You'll want to have a subscription box set up and weekly newsletters going out. Otherwise, all that marketing you are doing will be for nothing.

You can use this technique for any niche, not just weight loss.
