SD card not readable on MacBook Pro

First, check if the SD card is properly inserted into the slot or reader. If the card remains undetected, try these steps: Open Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities), select the SD card in the sidebar, and click First Aid to repair potential errors. If the card appears but won't mount, reformat it as exFAT (for cross-platform use) or Mac OS Extended (Mac-only) after backing up any recoverable data via another computer.

Advanced Solutions & Prevention
For persistently unreadable cards, test with a different reader or USB adapter to rule out hardware issues. If the card shows up in Disk Utility but not Finder, manually mount it via the Mount button. To avoid future problems, always safely eject SD cards before removal and consider using high-quality cards from reputable brands. For physically damaged cards, professional data recovery services may be required.

To maximize the recovery rate of your files, you should restore the data first with iBoysoft Data Recovery for Mac and then erase the SD card.

If you can’t erase the SD card in exFAT, try a different file system. For example, you can format it to APFS first, then reformat it again to exFAT or whatever format you want.
